MMI Teacher Training

The Montessori Instructor Educator is a professional observer of children's learning and actions. Modern Montessori International, London has been founded to preserve the Montessori tradition. It offers the most up-to-date and comprehensive course in the Montessori teaching method.

It provides students with the knowledge, experience and practical preparation they need in pre-school education. Infrastructural support is offered by teachers who are educated in the New Montessori International Teacher Training Centres. The diploma awarded is globally known and respected.


Entry Qualification

Applicants are judged on their merits but must have earned at least the GCE 'O' standard or its equivalent. They will need to provide a strong standard in both written and spoken English. They must be at least 17 years old.


Aim

The course aims at developing a high level of professional competence in students. As a teacher of the Montessori method to children from 2.5 years of age it will give students:

  • A detailed base of Montessori's values and theory.
  • A fundamental interpretation of child psychology.
  • The appreciation and comprehension of the teaching aid created by Dr Maria Montessori.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Montessori community and the position of director of Montessori.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Montessori's programme.

Course Structure

  • Montessori principle and philosophy.
  • Child development: The early years, child care, health and nutrition.
  • Curriculum - Mathematics, language, music, art and craft.
  • Exercises of practical life.
  • Sensorial education.
  • Language Phonics and Grammar.
  • Mathematics
  • Cultural subjects: Zoology, Botany, Geography, History.

Course Materials

Upon admission to the course, you will obtain 8 manuals and two reference books.


Teaching and Practice

Every teacher trainee must undergo practice teaching as a part of training. The supervised teaching activity must be done at the Montessori certified school itself.


Award (DIPLOMA)

To receive a diploma, students must:

  • Attend seminars daily.
  • Complete and pass written assignments
  • Pass written & practical tests
  • Complete 300 hours of instructional experience
